- 415 homeless people need shelter on any given night.
- 4,174 homeless people were served by local programs.
Most Are Families Working Temp or Part-time Jobs!
- 48% are Children & Youth
- 37% are Women
- 15% are Men
In the State of Iowa
- 56% of homeless families experienced homelessness for the first time in 2006
- One fourth of homeless families are working poor
- 28% of homeless adults in families reported a long-term disability
- One half of homeless adult individuals report a long term disability
- One out of ten homeless adult individuals served in the Armed Forces
- 57% of homeless individuals have completed high school or a GED
